ALIZARIN PRINT
The dyeing art Alizarin is named after the natural colourant Alizarin used in the hand block printing process. Alizarin is extracted from the roots of plant Madder (Rubia Tinctoria, Rubia Cordifolla etc…). It gives red colour to a textile dye known as rose madder.
Process:
The Alizarin dyeing process is being practiced in different handicraft clusters namely Bagh, Bagru & Tarapur. In this process the other natural resource like river water is also important ingredient. The metallic content of river water gives distinct differentiation to the end product. The bright red colour in textile dyed on the bank of Baghini river in village Bagh has geographical identification as Bagh print.
In Tarapur the Allizarin printing, the natural black colour obtained from the process of Jaggery and iron rust is used instead of vegetable kashish. The Alizarin with thus prepared black colour printing in Tarapur gives the combination of Maroon and Black.
The alizarin fabric is unique and adorable
